STUDIO 2B

WOODBURY UNIVERSITY//spring 2018//

INSTRUCTOR: ANALI GHARAKHANI

The following project is assigned to design a building though numerous elements that should test how a number of spaces – universal and fixed can come together in a complete whole that offer variety of cultural programming. At the end of the assignment we have to verbally present an overall body of work and make synthetic conclusions, use diagrams as generative tool, connect program elements intelligently using circulation systems, map program requirements to spaces, draw and model vertical circulation systems such as ramps and stairs and articulate the role of architectural ordering systems in the organization of program

The following is an study of a circulation that provides with one sided elevated car circulation, and a lower level circulation to allow car flow to the site.

study 2

The following is a study of a circulation that provides a multi level elevation to provide an angled circulation to the pedestrians and car circulation.

study 3

The following study provides a circulation throughout the site and makes a car circulation more easy to follow. Also, provides different levels of structure which automobiles and pedestrians are separated safety reasons.

In the final phase of the project we have to take both the formal logic’s and the programmatic and critical lessons formulated in the previous phases and be able to design for a new cultural building. The building is designed to test how a number of spaces – universal and fixed - can come together in a complete whole that offers variety of cultural programming.

The pictures shows in detail the site, plan, elevation and axonometric circulation of the project to have a better understanding of the project and its complexity.
