ARCHITECTURE 401-

STUDIO 4A

WOODBURY UNIVERSITY//FALL 2020//

INSTRUCTOR: STEPHEN MARSHALL

TEAM CONTRIBUTION: ERIK ESCOBEDO

The studio is designed to be done with a studio partner, which I teamed up with Erik Escobedo. In the first stage of the project we have to research through a multiprong interpretive lens, critical analysis of precedents, material research, and programmatic research. Composed of program- pedagogical approach, spatial strategy, circulation strategy, material and/or system strategy and relationship to environment. Nevertheless, we have to include the material properties, catalog of details and fabrication and construction methodologies.

In the second stage we have to conceptually develop the material and program research through the development of the envelope into a proposal that integrates concepts for daylight, passive heating and passive cooling.

For the last phase, we have to develop the project into a fully integrated building and site, taking into consideration the primary physical and spatial systems of architecture and enclosure along with the dynamic systems of environmental control, energy, water and resource management. Consisting of the site integration strategies for integrating the building design on a specific site, building envelope development- consideration of passive strategies and relationship to environment, material strategies and feasibility, and details and specifications; and networked systems- strategies for integrating and interconnecting with the larger site.
